Privacy Policy

This policy describes the limited information Lafayette Residents Directory receives and the choices available to visitors. The reference has no account system and does not host Lafayette, California, or Contra Costa County government records. Search-box submissions are handled by the third-party provider behind the results, while messages sent through a private contact route are used to respond to the sender.

Information You Submit

A name, phone number, or address entered into a search form is sent to the outside provider that supplies the result. Lafayette Residents Directory does not keep a copy of those search entries on its own servers. If you contact the operator, the operator receives the contents of the message and uses them to answer or handle the stated request.

Routine Technical Logs

Hosting systems may record an IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and time stamps. Those ordinary logs can be reviewed in aggregate to maintain the service and understand which Lafayette reference pages are useful. Basic analytics, cookies, or advertising measurement may also be enabled by the hosting or service partners.

How the Data Is Used

Information is used to operate the reference, resolve technical faults, measure broad traffic, improve content, and reply to messages. Visitor lists are not sold by the operator, and the operator does not build an individual profile from ordinary page use.

External Portals and Tools

Pages link to Lafayette and Contra Costa County records offices, California portals, libraries, archives, and third-party search tools. Once a visitor leaves for one of those services, that service's privacy policy governs the information submitted there. Sponsored search results are supplied by an outside company and follow its own data practices.

Who Processes It

Hosting and technical vendors may process server-log information while they keep the reference available. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the limited automatic data described above. Information can also be disclosed when a valid legal process requires it; it is not disclosed for unrelated purposes.

Security and Retention

The service uses an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only for the operational needs described in this policy. There are no accounts, passwords, or user profiles on the reference for an attacker to access. No security measure can promise that transmission or storage is risk-free.

Children and Younger Users

The reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. The operator does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a parent or guardian believes a minor sent personal information, use the Contact page so the operator can review and delete information held in the private contact systems.

California Privacy Choices

California privacy rights may include access, correction, deletion, opting out of sale or sharing, limits on sensitive personal information, and protection from discrimination. The California Consumer Privacy Act/CPRA, Civil Code §§1798.100 et seq., supplies the governing state framework, subject to its definitions, exceptions, and limits. Because the private reference keeps very little, a request generally means checking the contact mailbox and available technical logs.

The California Delete Act, Civil Code §§1798.99.80 et seq., created the state's DROP service for a category-wide data-broker opt-out. DROP is a broker deletion or no-sale request, not a way to erase a deed, court index, vital record, assessor roll, or other government record. Records held by Lafayette, Contra Costa County, or California offices are outside this operator's control. A request to inspect or correct those records must go to the custodian, including under the California Public Records Act, Government Code §§7920.000 et seq., where that law applies.

To ask about data held by the private reference, use the Contact page. The operator cannot delete or alter a government record on a visitor's behalf.

Policy Changes

When this policy changes, the current wording will be posted here. Continued use after an update indicates acceptance of the revised policy to the extent California law permits.
